Visuals are a great method of storytelling, this being said, social media is the best platform to showcase that visual story.
You may be asking, why social media?
Taken as a whole, today’s social networks create a storytelling “ecosystem” wherein you can tell your story in your own words – and pictures – and your guests can share their experiences with you, and with other consumers.
In fact, social media has become one of the most common ways that society connects in the 21st century.
-15% of total U.S. mobile internet time is spent on social networking sites.
-46% of online users count on social media when making purchases.
-Companies that generate more than 1,000 Facebook “Likes” also receive nearly 1,400 website visits a day.
Despite the fact that social media and social networks aren’t the “new thing” anymore, they are still experiencing steady and rapid growth in use. In the U.S. alone, users spent more than 520 billion minutes on social media in 2012, that’s a 21 percent increase over 2011. A major part of that growth has been driven by the increase of mobile computing and the proliferation of mobile devices
People love to use social media on the go. While 20% of users’ time online is spent on social networks, that number jumps to 30 per cent on mobile. And when it comes to mobile apps, the growth is unprecedented – social apps saw almost 86 million unique users in the U.S. in 2012, and users spent a whopping 76 percent more time on social apps in 2012 than they did in 2011.
Visual storytelling is critical for hotels. However without a means to display those visual stories they will sadly be lost. Use social media to catapult your visual story into the hands of your guests and future consumers.
