Did you know that you have about 31,000 annual storytellers you could be putting to work for your hotel? No, that number isn’t wrong – let’s say you’re a 100-room hotel, with 60% occupancy and about 1.4 guests per room.
Every single one can be your storytelling advocate – someone who shares their experience with their family and friends online, bringing you more guests.
In 2016, it’s time to re-think the hotel-guest experience as just a transactional occurrence – i.e. they stay once, you provide a room and they leave. It’s about the ongoing relationship you create with each guest, which we chatted about during our webinar on 2016 Hospitality Digital Marketing Predictions last week.
Digital Marketing E-Commerce Expert Tim Peter started off the webinar with a bold statement: every hotelier worth his salt can compete with Airbnb, all day, every day. Why? Because we’re the experts and Airbnb hosts are not – the time to recognize this and start acting is now.
That’s just one of the many things that hospitality marketers are talking about for 2016; as Charlie Osmond, founder of Triptease, also explained during the webinar: he hopes this is the year that accommodation providers get serious about building relationships with guests, using robust email programs and marketing automation campaigns to properly segment your target guests, generate repeat business, and essentially make money while you sleep.
