It’s not always the case that I get the opportunity to be a business traveler (I attended the HSMAI Digital Marketing Strategy Conference in New York last week) and then host a live webinar on targeting the business traveler two days later.
As a long time road warrior, I know the types of features and amenities I’m looking for when I’m shopping for a hotel on a business trip; and as the VP of Best Practices for Leonardo, I also know how hotels can better target the corporate traveler.
That’s the topic I discussed during a live event with three incredible guest speakers, Nathan Brooks, Director of Client Services at Egencia; Rupesh Patel, President and COO of Zenique Hotels; and Melissa Bruckler, E-Commerce and Revenue Management Consultant at Granite Hospitality.
They explained how hotels can better target business travelers with the right story, on the right channels. Here are a few key takeaways that resonated most with the audience:
• You need to showcase the amenities business travelers care about (such as WiFi, business centers, on-site dining etc.), as Nathan demonstrated
• Recognize that your business travelers can become bleisure (business and leisure) travelers – when the meeting is over, they want to relax, and enjoy the sights and sounds
• Mobile is a must – Rupesh explained how his property saw a 50% increase in mobile web traffic YOY
• Corporate travelers are social too – Melissa explained why her properties engage corporate travelers on Facebook with multi-media Facebook Apps
