Every business is being told to differentiate. Set themselves apart. Make themselves unique. And how? With storytelling – using the power of perfectly phrased words and compelling videos together to show their consumers why they should choose them.

Because in today’s competitive digital landscape, it can feel like consumers have all the power. They have thousands of options to choose from, thousands of other companies vying for their attention and it might feel like you’re a needle in a haystack waiting to be found.

To that, I say you can make a change.

What’s My Story?

The thing about storytelling is that if you believe it works, then you have to dig deep and really figure out: what’s my story? Or worse: do I even have one? It’s a scary thought. It throws traditional marketing on its head. It begs us to determine: can we truly compete? What can we really offer that another business down the street can’t?

Answer: Just listen.

For any property that wants to figure out what their true hotel story is, just listen – listen to the stories guests are already telling about your property on review sites like TripAdvisor, on your own website and social media pages and more. Why do they keep coming back? What did they love? What did they (cringe) hate?

And that’s what you need to leverage to get ahead in this world where yes, consumers have lots of options but you have lots of ideas and stories to tell them.
